SWITCHBOARD OR MAINFRAME WIRE Abstract of the Disclosure A switchboard or mainframe wire comprising an insulated conductor having an insulation layer of cross-linked polyvinylchloride compound and a barrier layer between the insulation layer and the conductor to prevent migration of substances from the insulation layer to the conductor. The barrier layer is in adhesion free contact with the conductor. In a preferred construction, the barrier layer consists of polyethylene and the insulation layer includes chlorinated polyethylene in the compound which is compatible both with the polyethylene to cause adhesion of the two layers and is also compatible with the polyvinylchloride. - i -
