A space between a pair of I-beam joists is insulated by an upright panel of stiff insulating material adjacent a header of the joists. Each side of the panel includes an upper relief portion arranged to receive a portion of one of the upper flange portions of the joists therein and a lower relief portion arranged to receive a portion of one of the lower flange portions of the I-beams therein. An auxiliary member also spans generally horizontally between the lower flange portions of the I--beams for spanning over a foundation wall upon which the joists are supports. A relief portion is also formed in the bottom face along each side of the auxiliary member to extend in the longitudinal direction between the ends of the panel for receiving a portion of the respective lower flange portion of the I-beams therein.
