An insulating panel having at least two parallel sides. Along a first one of the parallel sides there is a multiplicity of male-female elements. On a second side parallel to the first one side, there is a multiplicity of female-male elements sized and proportioned for engaging the corresponding elements of another similar insulating panel abutted in side-to-side relationship thereto. Such multiplicities of male and female elements are engageable in a tight fit relation to cooperate in between said abutted panels as to produce a homogeneous force distribution along the side of adjacent panels and thereby to increase the effective shearing strength of such insulating panels.
