ABSTRACT INSULATION AND THE PROVISION THEREOF An insulation member for insulating a furnace sur- face. The insulation member includes an insulation mat which has a cold face to be positioned against such a surface, which has an opposed hot face, and which com- prises a deformable insulation material. The insulation member further includes attachment means for attaching the member to such a surface, the attachment means comprising anchor means positioned in the mat in spaced relationship with both the cold face and the hot face to locate the attachment means relatively to the mat, and connection means connected to the anchor means for attachment to such a surface to attach the member to such a surface. The connection means is recessed inwardly of the cold face for the attachment means to compress the cold face against such a surface when the connection means is urged towards such a surface for attachment thereto.
