An intake manifold assembly (10) is disclosed for an internal combustion engine (12). The intake manifold assembly (10) includes an intake manifold of a predetermined length and includes a plenum (70) having an interior wall surface and a predetermined cross-sectional area in a plane transverse to the length of the plenum. An air inlet (106) is located mid-way of the length of the plenum, and the air inlet (106) is generally circular in cross section. A plurality of outlet portions (104), each having an outlet port (82) in air flow communication with the plenum (70), each of the outlet ports (82) being substantially equally spaced along the length of said plenum. A cross- sectional area of the outlet port (82) of each outlet portion (104) is substantially equal to the cross-sectional flow area of the plenum (70) and of the air inlet portion (106). A diverter partition (72) extends integrally from the inner wall of the plenum (70) in a direction toward the mid-point of the air inlet (106) to divert incoming air flow and evenly distribute the air flow to each of the respective outlet ports (82).
L'invention concerne un ensemble collecteur d'admission (10) pour moteur à combustion interne (12). Cet ensemble (10) comprend un collecteur d'admission de longueur prédéterminée ainsi qu'une chambre d'emmagasinage à air (70) dotée d'une surface de paroi intérieure et d'une section préétablie dans un plan transversal à la longueur de la chambre proprement dite. Une admission d'air (106) qui se trouve à mi-chemin sur la longueur de la chambre a une section généralement circulaire. Une pluralité de zones d'échappement (104) sont dotées chacune d'un conduit d'échappement (82) en communication par débit d'air avec la chambre (70). Les conduits d'échappement (82) sont placés sensiblement à intervalles réguliers sur la longueur de ladite chambre. Une partie de section transversale du conduit d'échappement (82) de chaque zone d'échappement (104) est sensiblement équivalente à la zone de débit transversal de la chambre (70) et de la zone d'admission d'air (106). Une cloison de déviation (72) s'étend entièrement depuis la paroi intérieure de la chambre (70) vers le point médian de l'admission d'air (106) pour dévier le débit d'air entrant et pour assurer la répartition homogène de l'air entre les différents conduits d'échappement (82).
