An intake silencer of a vertical-type engine includes two silencing chambers. A first intake silencing chamber is disposed adjacent to the body of the engine; a second intake silencing chamber is located upstream in a flow of intake air from the first intake silencing chamber, and receives the flow of intake air as input thereto. An output of the second intake silencing chamber becomes an input to the first intake silencing chamber. The second intake silencing chamber is disposed at an opposite end of the engine body from the cylinder head of the engine.

La présente invention vise un silencieux composé de deux chambres d'insonorisation, pour l'admission d'un moteur vertical. Une première chambre d'insonorisation pour l'admission est aménagée à proximité du corps du moteur tandis que la seconde se trouve, en amont, dans une veine d'air de l'admission provenant de la première chambre d'insonorisation et constituant son alimentation. L'air évacué à la sortie de la seconde chambre d'insonorisation de l'admission du moteur devient la veine alimentant la première chambre d'insonorisation. La seconde chambre d'insonorisation se trouve, par rapport au corps du moteur, à l'extrémité opposée de la culasse du moteur.
