ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An engine intake system comprising an intake passage communicating through an intake port with a combustion chamber, and a throttle valve disposed in said intake passage, the im- provement comprising a control valve disposed in the intake pas- sage between the throttle valve and the intake port, an auxiliary passage having one end opening to the intake passage in the vicinity of the intake port through an opening directed toward the combustion chamber and the other end opening to the intake passage between the throttle valve and the control valve and means for closing the control valve under a light load operation of the engine.
