ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An intake system for an internal combustion engine has an induction passage which extends substantially horizon- tally from a throttle body accomodating a throttle valve to an intake manifold of the engine. A fuel injector is disposed in the throttle body substantially coaxially with the throttle body. Fuel is supplied to the injector through a fuel inlet passage, while excess fuel is returned through a fuel outlet passage. At least the fuel outlet passage extends upwardly from the injector.
