ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for integrally bonding a gasket seal to the bevelled peripheral surface of a ceramic foam filter used in the filtration of molten metal, comprising position- ing a ceramic slurry impregnated flexible organic material or a ceramic foam filter in a mold having dimensions corresponding to the desired size of the final filter product, so as to form a gap between the peripheral surface of the flexible material or foam filter and the mold, feeding a ceramic fibre slurry to the gap, and drying and firing in the case of the flexible material or drying in the case of the foam filter.
