There is provided an integrated field-configurable headset system comprising a standard media input interface, a stereoscopic image decoder for generating first and second flows of images, a digital image processor for editing images of the first image flow, a second image processor for editing images of the second image flow, display means for displaying images from the first processor, and display means for displaying images from the second processor. The system may advantageously be used to display images to a left eye and a right eye of a user respectively, said images being digitally altered to take into account intrinsic limitations of the system and/or to match a user profile.
