An integral guided tissue regeneration barrier for root form dental implants is herein described. The barrier is meant to facilitate osseointegration of implants placed with trans-mucosal healing elements immediately into tooth extraction sites. The barrier comprises an absorbable circumferential membrane arranged to exclude epithelial cells but not osteoblasts from the tooth extraction socket in which the implant is placed. As a result of this arrangement, the implant becomes osseointegrated into the jaw of the patient. If an increase in bone volume around the implant is required, the membrane may be supplemented by a sheet membrane of titanium mesh or foil or absorbable material such as bovine or porcine collagen or synthetic polymer. That is, both the integral guided tissue regeneration barrier and the supplementary sheet membrane are composed of materials that do not need to be removed, thereby reducing to one the number of surgeries required to progress from a dentulous site to a site with a loaded implant.
L'invention concerne une barrière intégrée de guidage de régénération tissulaire pour des implants dentaires en forme de racine. Cette barrière est destinée à faciliter l'intégration osseuse des implants installés avec des éléments de cicatrisation trans-muqueux dans les sites d'extraction dentaire. La barrière comprend une membrane périphérique résorbable conçue pour exclure les cellules épithéliales mais non les ostéoblastes de l'alvéole dentaire dans laquelle l'implant est placé. Ce système permet l'intégration osseuse de l'implant dans la mâchoire du patient. Si le volume osseux doit être augmenté autour de l'implant, la membrane peut être complétée par une membrane en feuillet formée de mailles ou d'un feuillet de titane, d'un matériau résorbable tel que le collagène bovin ou porcin, ou d'un polymère synthétique. Ainsi la barrière de guidage de régénération tissulaire et la membrane en feuillet complémentaire sont toutes deux composées de matériaux qui n'ont pas besoin d'être enlevés, ce qui permet de réduire à une seule opération chirurgicale la procédure nécessaire pour passer d'un site denté à un site avec un implant en place.
