An integrated image read/write head (A) comprises a long rectangular substrate (4) having a first side edge (4c) and a second side edge (4d) in the direction of width and carrying a plurality of photodetector elements (2), and driver ICs (80) are arranged in rows on its one side (4a). A long case (1) is attached to house the photodetector elements (2) and driver ICs (80) on the side (4a) of the substrate (4) in such a manner that the first edge (4c) of the side of the substrate (4) is exposed along a predetermined width. A source of light (3) is also arranged on the side (4a) and housed in the case (1). A plurality of heating elements (8) are mounted on the exposed part of the side (4a) of the substrate (4).
