` An integrated multi-rate cross-connect system (10) includes a broadband subsystem (14) for processing optical and electrical telecommunication network signals. A wideband subsystem (16) processes wideband level electrical telecommunication signals from the network, from the broadband subsystem (14), and from a narrowband subsystem (18). The narrowband subsystem (18) processes narrowband level electrical, telecommunication signals from the network and the wideband subsystem (16). An administration subsystem (12) provides centralized control and sychronization to the broadband subsystem (14), the wideband subsystem (16), and the narrowband subssystem (18). The wideband subsystem (16) is coupled to the broadband subsystem (14) and the narrowband subsystem (18) by internal transmission links (30) to allow for remote distribution of each subsystem. Each subsystem operates within its own timing island synchronized to a reference timing signal to facilitate component distribution.
Un système d'interconnexion multicadence intégré (10) comprend un premier sous-système à large bande (14) servant à traiter des signaux optiques et électriques d'un réseau de télécommunication. Le sous-système à bande étroite (18) traite les signaux électriques de télécommunication à bande étroite provenant du réseau et du sous-système à large bande (16). Un sous-système de gestion (12) commande et synchronise de façon centralisée le premier sous-système à large bande (14), le second sous-système à large bande (16) et le sous-système à bande étroite (18). Le second sous-système à large bande (16) est couplé au premier sous-système à large bande (14) et au sous-système à bande étroite (18) par des liaisons de transmission internes (30) afin de permettre la répartition des sous-systèmes. Chaque sous-système fonctionne à l'intérieur de son propre îlot de temporisation synchronisé avec un signal de temporisation de référence afin de faciliter la distribution aux composants.
