Prior art architectures of power amplifiers employ a substantial die area, and utilize multiple integrated circuit technologies with a net higher manufacturing cost and large associated packaging area. A new scheme is presented wherein several sense and control signals are used to provide fine and gross control over the key figures of merit associated with integrated semiconductor power amplifiers. How and where these sense and control signals are used is crucial to achieving the most manufacturable and most economic integrated amplifier. In accordance with a first embodiment of the invention, a Dual Feedback-Low power regulation circuit for a three-stage power amplifier integrated circuit is provided. In accordance with a second embodiment of the invention, a current source feedback circuit having low RF output signal power regulation for a three-stage power amplifier integrated circuit is provided. In accordance with a third embodiment of the invention, a detector circuit in the form of an integrated logarithmic current detector circuit in conjunction with a three stage power amplifier integrated circuit. The three embodiments of the invention advantageously overcome the limitations of the prior art.
Dans l'art antérieur, les architectures d'amplificateurs de puissance mettaient en oeuvre une zone de dé importante et plusieurs technologies de circuits intégrés à coûts de fabrication nettement plus élevés et à zones d'emballage associées plus grandes. L'invention concerne un schéma dans lequel plusieurs signaux de détection et de commande sont utilisés pour mettre en place une commande fine et grossière sur les chiffres clés du mérite associé à des amplificateurs de puissance semi-conducteurs intégrés. La manière selon laquelle ces signaux de détection et de commande sont utilisés et l'emplacement où ceux-ci sont utilisés représentent un point crucial dans l'obtention de l'amplificateur intégré le plus facile à fabriquer et le plus économique. Par conséquent, un premier mode de réalisation de l'invention concerne un circuit de régulation de la puissance à double rétroactions-faible destiné à un circuit intégré d'un amplificateur de puissance à trois étages. Un deuxième mode de réalisation de l'invention concerne un circuit de rétroaction de la source de courant possédant une régulation de la puissance des signaux de sortie à faible RF et destiné à un circuit intégré d'un amplificateur de puissance à trois étages. Un troisième mode de réalisation de l'invention concerne un circuit de détecteur présenté sous la forme d'un circuit de détecteur de courant logarithmique intégré conjointement avec un circuit intégré d'un amplificateur de puissance à trois étages. Les trois circuits dans les trois modes de réalisation de l'invention présentent un caractère avantageux en ce qu'ils permettent de résoudre les limites de l'art antérieur.
