The invention relates to a process for splitting bitumen into two fractions and rendering a heavier bottom fraction as a useable emulsion fuel. The process is particularly effective in creating an alternate fuel to natural gas in a steam- based bitumen recovery process wherein bitumen is recovered from an underground reservoir.
Cette invention a trait à un procédé pour répartir le bitume en deux fractions et transformer la fraction inférieure plus lourde en un carburant d'émulsion utilisable. Ce procédé est particulièrement efficace pour créer un carburant de rechange au gaz naturel au moyen d'un procédé de récupération du bitume axé sur la vapeur selon lequel le bitume est récupéré à partir d'un réservoir souterrain.
