The present invention provides an improved method of beneficiating and dewatering kaolin clays. The product of the improved process is a brightened, dewatered kaolin, suitable for use in pigments and paper coating compositions. The improved beneficiation process provides refined kaolin for pigments and other purposes of the same or better quality as prior art processes, but with the use of fewer steps and materials, at significant cost and environmental savings.

La présente invention concerne un procédé amélioré servant à enrichir et à déshydrater des argiles kaoliniques. Le produit obtenu par ce procédé amélioré est un kaolin blanchi et déshydraté pouvant être utilisé dans des pigments et des compositions de couchage du papier. Ce procédé d'enrichissement amélioré permet d'obtenir du kaolin raffiné pour des pigments et autres applications d'une qualité égale ou supérieure à celle obtenue au moyen des procédés des techniques antérieures, en un nombre inférieur d'étapes et avec une plus faible quantité de matériaux. L'objet de cette invention permet de faire d'importantes économies en matière de coût et d'environnement.
