An integrated space heating and air conditioning appliance (10) is disclosed which includes an upper condenser air handling section (14), a removable refrigerant section (16) and an upper internal air handling section (18). A water to air heat exchanger (46) is mounted within the upper internal air handling section (18) and can be provided hot water from a potable hot water heater (50) within the dwelling or a centralized remote boiler (76). In air conditioning mode, air is drawn in from outside the dwelling over a condenser (22) to cool compressed refrigerant. Internal air flow passes over an evaporator (36) where it is cooled and discharged back into the dwelling.
