An integrated U-tube and adsorbent unit (10) including a U-tube (19) having first and second legs (20, 22) and a return bend (21), a space (37) between the first and second legs (20, 22) and the return bend (21), adsorbent (39) in the space (37), opposite sides (24, 24') on the first and second legs (20, 22) and the return bend (21), permeable covers (40, 40') bonded to the first and second opposite sides (24, 24') to contain the adsorbent (39) within the space (37), a hole (26) in the return bend (21), a frame (41) connected to the U- bend (21) and defining a space in communication with the hole (26), and filter material (47) on the frame (41). An integrated U-tube and adsorbent unit (94) including a plastic U-tube (82) and a self-contained adsorbent unit (70) having a plastic cover (71) bonded to the U-tube (82) with the body of the self-contained adsorbent unit positioned between the legs (83, 84) of the U- tube.
