The invention includes a network system and method and apparatus for integrating wireless LAN and mobile telecommunications system. A network proxy and a terminal proxy are provided to allow a terminal to connect to a network and use any one of a number of connection interfaces. The proxies allow for switching between interfaces, and hide the switching from the higher layers of the communications protocol. Switching is managed in the link layer.
