An interactive apparatus is disclosed. In one embodiment, the interactive apparatus includes a base unit (12). The base unit (12) can has a surface (29) and an array of electrical elements under the surface (29). A removable template (14) is placed on the base unit (12) and is positioned over the surface (29). The removable template (14) has a movable element (19) that the user can move and a speaker in the apparatus can produce an audio output in response to the movement of the movable element (19).
