The invention features a method and apparatus for displaying the status of network resources, to include rendering fishbone layouts (45) in a snowflake layout. Each fishbone layout features a hierarchy with resource profiles (30) and dependency relationship among the resource profiles (77). The resource profiles represent network resources. Hierarchies in the snowflake layout (46) share a common root.
