An interactive sporting event monitoring system (15) includes a determiner for determining whether video blanking interval data is present in a selected television channel, and a decoder (29) for decoding video blanking interval data from the selected television channel. The video blanking interval data from the selected television channel comprises a number of channels of sporting event audio information, and the decoder (29) associates each of the plurality of channels of sporting event audio information with a corresponding channel identifier. Each channel identifier distinguishes a corresponding channel of sporting event audio information from other channels of sporting event audio information. The interactive sporting event monitoring system (15) further includes a user input for accepting a user channel identifier from a user, and a monitor (27) for placing the channel of sporting event audio information that the user desires to monitor (27) in a format to facilitate monitoring thereof by a user.
Système (15) interactif de surveillance d'un événement sportif, qui comporte un dispositif de détermination destiné à déterminer si des données d'intervalle de suppression vidéo sont présentes sur un canal choisi de télévision, ainsi qu'un décodeur (29) destiné à décoder lesdites données provenant du canal de télévision sélectionné. Les données d'intervalle de suppression vidéo provenant du canal de télévision sélectionné comportent un certain nombre de canaux d'informations sonores relatives à l'événement sportif et le décodeur (29) associe chacun des canaux d'informations sonores à un identificateur de canal correspondant. Chaque identificateur de canal distingue un canal correspondant d'informations sonores relatives à l'événement sportif d'autres canaux d'informations sonores relatives à l'événement sportif. Ledit système (15) interactif de surveillance d'un événement sportif comporte en outre un dispositif d'entrée pour l'utilisateur, destiné à accepter un identificateur de canal spécifié par l'utilisateur, et un dispositif (27) de surveillance destiné à transférer le canal des informations sonores relatives à l'événement sportif que l'utilisateur désire surveiller (27) dans un format destiné à faciliter la surveillance dudit canal par l'utilisateur.
