ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Useful compositions are prepared by incorporat- ing into organic materials, crystalline lithium aluminates which conform substantially to the empirical formula (LiAx)y?2Al(OH)3?nH2O wherein A is one or more anions and/or negative-valence radicals; wherein x is a quantity of A ions and/or radicals sufficient to substantially satisfy the valence requirements of the Li; wherein y is a numerical value sufficient to maintain the crystalline structure; and wherein n represents the number of waters of hydration, if any.
