A wipe support device and a method for supporting exposed pipes on flat roofs. The pipe support device includes a body having a base portion with a lower pad-receiving area. An upwardly extending support portion has an upper surface for vertically supporting the pipes without restraining them from horizontal movement. A pad is adapted to engage the pad receiving area to engage and conform to the irregular surface of the roof. The pipes rest on but are not rigidly connected to the upper surface of the support portion such that the pipes slide on the upper surface during movement due to thermal expansion and contraction of the pipes. Deformation of the pad about the irregular surface under weight of the pipes anchors the pipe support device in a desired position on the roof by slightly compressing the pad without requiring permanent mounting to the roof and while protecting the membrane from penetration by the gravel due to the weight of the pipes resting thereon. Multiple longitudinally adjacent pipe support devices are adapted to be interconnectable to form elongate rooftop pipe support assemblies of a desired length to support multiple pipes.
