A Co~2 releasing composition that can be incorporated into the packaging for carbonated beverages having a co-continuous interconnecting channel morphology comprising at least three components, (a) wherein component A is selected from the group of polymers have a shear modulus greater than about 8 MPa; (B) wherin component B is a polymer ; (c) wherein components A and B are immiscible within each other and, if components A and B react after mixing, components A and B are immiscilbe withing each other and, if components A and B react after mixing, components A and B are immiscible prior to reaction; (d) wherein component C is a particle and a composiiton that has an ability to release CO~2.; (d) wherein component C is a particle and a composition that has an ability to release CO~2.; (e) whereing the volume fraction of component A represents at least about 50% by volume of the total volume of components A, B and C; (f) wherein the preferential affinity between component B and component C is greater than between component A and component C; (g) wherein at least two phases are formed, one phase is composed of a majority of componenet A, and the second phase is composed of a majority of component B and a majority of componenet C; and (h) wherein the two phases form the co- continuous interconnecting channel morphology.

L'invention concerne une composition lib~rant du CO´2?, qui peut Útre incorpor~e dans l'emballage de boissons gazeuses, poss~dant une morphologie ~ canaux d'interconnexion co-continus, laquelle morphologie comprend au moins trois constituants. Selon cette invention, (a) le constituant A est choisi dans le groupe comprenant des polym­res semi-cristallins et amorphes, les polym­res amorphes poss~dant un module en cisaillement sup~rieur ~ environ 8 MPa, (b) le constituant B est un polym­re, (c) les constituants A et B sont immiscibles l'un dans l'autre et, si les constituants A et B r~agissent apr­s m~lange, ces constituants A et B sont immiscibles avant la r~action, (d) le constituant C est une particule et une composition pouvant lib~rer du CO´2?., (e) la fraction de volume du constituant A repr~sente au moins environ 50 % en volume du volume total des constituants A, B et C, (f) l'affinit~ pr~f~rentielle entre le constituant B et le constituant C est sup~rieure ~ l'affinit~ pr~f~rentielle entre le constituant A et le constituant C, (g) au moins deux phases sont form~es, une phase compos~e principalement du constituant A, et une seconde phase compos~e principalement du constituant B et principalement du constituant C, et (h) les deux phases forment la morphologie ~ canaux d'interconnexion co-continus.
