The stem (8) of a brush (10) can be inserted into the holder (1) and is retained between opposed surfaces of the body portion (3) and gripping member (2). Preferably the opposed surfaces may be textured or have ribs. Optionally the holder (1) is adapted to retain the brush (10) in a variety of orientations.
