An interference based dynamic channel assignment scheme for a wireless communication network, for self configuring dynamic channel assignment of a plurality of channels, comprises the steps of: prioritizing a channel list and prioritizing a selected subset of the prioritized channel list. In further enhancements of the present invention, prioritizing a channel list is distributed on a per cell/sector basis so that prioritization is independent of frequency usage information from other cells/sectors and prioritization is based upon uplink and downlink characteristics.

Une technique d'assignation dynamique des canaux fondée sur l'interférence, en vue de l'assignation dynamique de multiples canaux avec auto-configuration, fait appel aux étapes suivantes : établissement d'une liste de canaux dans un ordre de priorités et établissement d'un sous-ensemble de cette liste de priorités. Dans des versions améliorées de la présente invention, une liste de canaux avec priorités est distribuée selon des cellules/secteurs de manière que l'établissement des priorités soit indépendant d'information sur la fréquence d'utilisation provenant d'autres cellules/secteurs et que l'établissement des priorités soit basé sur les caractéristiques des liaisons aval et amont.
