PHN 8657 ABSTRACT: A connecting circuit for telephone lines includes a line supervision circuit for providing signals in response to open and closed circuits of the lines. This line super- vision circuit provides undesirable signals in response to overvoltage conditions. A detection circuit responsive to overvoltage conditions exceeding a working range of the line supervision circuit and a blocking arrangement connected to the detection circuit prevents the line supervision circuit from affecting the state of a line state store by undesirable signals during overvoltage conditions on the lines.
