Two or more phased array waveguides are arranged such that they are interlaced in parallel both connecting the same two star couplers. Each phased array focuses the output channels to a different location. The separation between the two focus points is determined by a constant difference in the length of each individual array. A shift can be controlled very precisely to produce overlapping passbands while keeping low excess crosstalk between adjacent channel. The overlapping passbands effectively create a broader passband with a substantially flat top shape.
