The present invention relates to the use of an Interleukin-8 (IL-8) agent for the treatment of viral infection, caused by human and animal viruses, and cancer caused by oncoviruses. The IL-8 agent may be an IL-8 protein or an analog thereof having an IL-8 biological activity. The viral infection may be of a DNA virus selected from the group consisting of parvoviridae, papovaviridae, adenoviridae, herpes-viridae, poxviridae and hepadnaviridae, or of a RNA virus selected from the group consisting of retroviridae excluding HIV-1 and HIV-2, picornaviridae, togaviridae, orthomyxoviridae, paramyxoviridae, coronaviridae, reoviridae, oncornaviridae and filoviridae.

La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'une interleukine 8 (IL-8) comme agent de traitement d'une infection virale causée par un virus humain ou animal ou d'un cancer causé par un virus oncogène. L'agent IL-8 peut être une protéine IL-8 ou un analogue de ladite protéine ayant une activité biologique IL-8. L'infection virale peut provenir d'un virus à ADN sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par parvoviridae, papovaviridae, adenoviridae, herpesviridae, proxviridae et hepadnaviridae, ou d'un virus à ARN sélectionné dans le groupe constitué par retroviridae (à l'exclusion de VIH-1 et VIH-2), picornaviridae, togaviridae, orthomyxoviridae, paramyxoviridae, coronaviridae, reoviridae, oncornaviridae et filoviridae.
