An interlocking container and lid assembly is disclosed wherein the container has a peripheral sidewall including an upper peripheral edge portion having at least two opposed interlocking areas, with folded-back flaps extending over the interlocking areas. The lid has a top member and a peripheral flange with folded-back flaps telescopically engaging and overlaying the container flaps. The overlying flaps interlock by gluing one down to provide a fixed exposed retaining edge, and forming a transverse tab in the other to engage said edge and lock the lid onto the container.
