Abstract of the Disclosure Compounds of formula (XXX) are useful as intermediates in the preparation of pesticidally active compounds: Image (XXX) wherein Ar is (I) ,naphthyl or Image Image R6 being one or more of hydrogen, halo, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, amino, alkenoxy, acyloxy, acyl, all being unsubstituted or substituted by a radical selected from alkyl, halo, aryl, nitro, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy and acyl; methylene dioxy, cyano, nitro, SO2R8, SOR8, SR9, SO2NR10R11, aryl, aryloxy or CO2R12 where R8 to R12 are all independently alkyl; R7 being halo, or allcyl unsubstituted or substituted by a radical selected from alkyl, halo, aryl, nitro, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy and acyl; and X being oxygen or sulphur, A is -O-, -N(R13)-(wherein R13 is hydrogen, alkyl or acyl), S(O)d wherein d is 0, 1 or 2, or a carbonyl group, a is 0 to 3, b is 0 to 12, each R1 is independently hydrogen, alkyl, fluoro, cyano or alkynyl and each of R2 and R3 are each chosen independently from hydrogen, alkyl and halo, Q is -CH2- or oxygen, c is 0 to 12, and G is a radical selected from i) (CE=CE')nCOZ', ii) Image iii) Image , and iV ) CH=CHM in which n is 0, 1 or 2, each E and E' is independently hydrogen or halo, R4 and R5 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl or alkoxy each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by halo, alkenyl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, alkynyl or cyano, provided that a is 0 only where Q is an oxygen, Z' is a hydroxyl, halo or phosphoroimidate ester group, p is 0 or 1, R14 is lower alkyl and M is a metal atom or metal-containing group.
