ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLSOURE Novel intermediates and their process of preparation are provided of fonmula (II) Image (II) or a tautomeric form thereof, wherein R is a lower alkyl or hydroxy-lower-alkyl group, and R1 and R2 are the same or different and each is a lower alkyl group having together at least 3 carbon atoms or R1 and R2, together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form a spirocycloalkyl ring system having 4 to 6 carbon atoms, and Z is an oxime group, the novel compounds are useful in the preparation of pteridine derivatives and their salts, which inhibit one of the enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of dihdrofolic acid, namely hydroxymethldihydropteridine pyrophosphokinase, which is essential to the growth of micro- organisms for instance bacteria.
