An improved aqueous cathodic electrocoating composition having a binder of an epoxy-amine adduct and a blocked polyisocyanate crosslinking agent; wherein the improvement is the incorporation of an anticrater agent whichis a polyoxyalkylene diamine having a number average molecular weight of about 700-5,000 by reacting it with the epoxy resin of the epoxy-amine adduct; whereinthe amine to epoxy equivalence ratio of amine groups of the polyoxyalkylene diamine to epoxy groups of the epoxy resin of the epoxy amine adduct is within the range of 0.01 - 0.90 to 1 and the resulting epoxy amine adduct has a number average molecular weight of about 1,500 - 20,000; where the above molecular weights are determined by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) using polystyrene as the standard.
Composition améliorée pour revêtement électrolytique cathodique en milieu aqueux comprenant un liant constitué d'un adduit époxy-amine et d'un agent de réticulation du polyisocyanate bloqué; dans laquelle l'amélioration découle de l'incorporation d'un agent anti-cratère, qui est une polyoxyalkylène-diamine de masse moléculaire moyenne en nombre d'environ 700-5000, par réaction avec la résine époxydique de l'adduit époxy-amine; dans laquelle le rapport d'équivalence amine/époxy des groupes aminés de la polyoxyalkylène-diamine aux groupes époxydiques de la résine époxydique de l'adduit époxy-amine se trouve dans la plage de 0,01 - 0,90 à 1 et l'adduit époxy-amine résultant possède une masse moléculaire moyenne en nombre d'environ 1500 - 20 000; les masses moléculaires ci-dessus étant déterminées par chromatographie par perméation sur gel (CPG) en utilisant le polystyrène comme étalon.
