A medical device for removing a thin membrane from the inner surface of an eye. The device comprises a rake that includes a handle having a hollow body from which a slide member telescopes. A plurality of tines are provided on a free end of the slide member, wherein each tine includes a tissue engaging feature provided on a free end of each tine. The tines are extended and retracted from an end of the handle, such that, when completely retracted, only the tissue engaging features protrude from the handle or all tissue engaging features can be retracted into the handle. In operation, the rake is manipulated along an upper surface of the membrane until the tissue engaging features engage the membrane. Once the tines engage the membrane, the rake is moved upward and tangentially away relative to an upper surface of the retina until the membrane is removed therefrom.
L'invention concerne un dispositif médical permettant de retirer une fine membrane de la surface interne d'un oeil. Le dispositif comprend un râteau présentant un manche doté d'un corps creux à partir duquel un élément coulissant est télescopé. Une pluralité de dents sont placées sur une extrémité libre de l'élément coulissant, chaque dent comprenant une caractéristique venant en prise avec un tissu se trouvant sur une extrémité libre de chaque dent. Les dents sont déployées et rétractées à partir d'une extrémité du manche, de manière que, lors d'une rétraction complète, uniquement les caractéristiques venant en prise avec le tissu soient en saillie à partir du manche ou que toutes les caractéristiques venant en prise avec le tissu puissent être rétractées dans le manche. Pendant l'utilisation, le râteau est manipulé le long d'une surface supérieure de la membrane jusqu'au moment où les caractéristiques venant en prise avec le tissu viennent en prise avec la membrane. Une fois les dents en prise avec la membrane, le râteau est déplacé vers le haut et de manière tangentielle à distance par rapport à une surface supérieure de la rétine jusqu'à ce que la membrane soit retirée de celle-ci.
