ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An ultrasonic nozzle includes an atomizing surface for producing an atomized liquid spray. A liquid feed passageway having an inlet supplied with a liquid and an outlet for supplying said liquid to said atomizing surface is provided. The passageway has a first section with a first diameter and a second fluidly connected section with a second, smaller diameter, with a shoulder defined between the first and second sections of the passageway. Vibration means are provided for supplying atomizing vibrations to the atomizing surface at an ultrasonic frequency. Internal shut-off means are positioned within the passageway and cooperate with the shoulder for preventing said supply of liquid to said atomizing surface.
