The presently preferred embodiments relate to film structures that are exposed to focused energy to provide a score line on an internal layer of the film structure, or on both an internal layer of a film structure and an outer layer of the film structure. In addition, the present invention relates to a package that may be torn along the score line. More specifically, the package may have a score line provided on an internal layer of barrier material, such as ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, polyvinylidene chloride copolymer, nylon, or any other laser scorable barrier material. The score line in an internal layer and/or in the surface of the film may allow the package to be opened using tearing forces, thereby exposing a product within the package and allowing a user of the package to gain access to product that may be contained therein.

Les modes de réalisation préférés de cette invention ont trait à des films soumis aux effets d'une énergie focalisée afin de former une ligne de rainurage sur une couche interne de la structure du film ou bien à la fois sur des couches, interne et externe, de la structure. L'invention porte également sur un emballage pouvant être déchiré le long de cette ligne de rainurage. Plus précisément, cet emballage peut comporter une ligne de rainurage formée sur une couche interne de matériau barrière, notamment un copolymère d'alcool vinylique d'éthylène, un copolymère de chlorure de polyvinylidène, du Nylon ou tout autre matériau barrière pouvant être rainuré au laser. La ligne de rainurage formée dans une couche interne et/ou à la surface du film permet l'ouverture de l'emballage par déchirure, ce qui découvre l'article se trouvant dans l'emballage et permet à l'utilisateur d'avoir accès à l'article qu'il contient.
