This invention relates to the field of IP telephony. More particularly, this invention is a method for handling the signaling related to the storing and forwarding of voice and video messages in an IP based network. With reference to Fig. 1, this invention is a method for signaling an IMS (25) on an IP based network (17) to perform an action on a message, where the action is either a deposit of the message or the retrieval of a previously deposited message, including the steps of sending an SIP INVITE request from a network server (23) to the IMS (25) indicating the desired action; receiving a corresponding SIP message from the IMS (25) agreeing to participate in the desired action; and sending an SIP acknowledge message from the network server (23) to the IMS (25) confirming receipt of the corresponding SIP message; and performing the desired action.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à signaler à un système de messagerie intégrée (IMS) situé sur un réseau Internet (IP) de déposer un message, consistant à envoyer une requête INVITE SIP (Protocole d'Initiation de Session) au système de messagerie intégrée (IMS) indiquant un dépôt du message, à recevoir un message SIP correspondant de l'IMS confirmant sa participation dans le dépôt du message, à envoyer un message d'accusé de réception SIP à l'IMS confirmant que le message SIP correspondant a été reçu, et à déposer le message dans une boîte aux lettre de destination. L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à signaler à l'IMS situé sur un réseau IP de retirer un message déposé, ce procédé consistant à envoyer une requête INVITE SIP à l'IMS indiquant un message de retrait, à envoyer un message d'accusé de réception SIP à l'IMS confirmant que le message SIP correspondant a été reçu, et à retirer le message déposé de la boîte aux lettres correspondant aux informations de compte connues.
