A coated article and method therefor comprises a metal substrate comprising a layered coating composition on at least one surface thereof, the coating composition comprising a layer of epoxy on one or more of the surfaces of the substrate. The coating composition further comprises an overcoat layer comprising a combination of polyolefin and epoxy resins, the overcoat layer optionally being free of added epoxy curative. The article can be a pipe, vessel, conduit, rod, profile-shaped article, or tube. A preferred overcoat layer comprises a semi- or full- epoxy/polyolefin interpenetrating polymer network (IPN). In another embodiment, the coated article comprises a polyolefin/epoxy layer that is directly coated on at least one surface of a metal substrate, the polyolefin/epoxy coating being overcoated with a thermoplastic top coating, the coated article being free of added adhesive. The metal article preferably is a pipe, vessel, conduit, rod, profile shaped article or tube.
L'invention concerne un article revêtu et un procédé associé. L'article comprend un substrat métallique comportant, sur au moins une surface, une composition de revêtement en couches, ladite composition comprenant une couche d'époxyde sur une ou plusieurs surfaces du substrat. Cette composition comprend de plus une couche de finition comprenant une combinaison de polyoléfine et de résines époxydes, la couche de finition étant éventuellement exempte de catalyseur d'époxyde ajouté. L'article peut être un tuyau, une cuve, une conduite, une tige, un article profilé ou un tube. La couche de finition préférée comprend un réseau polymère interpénétré ou semi-interpénétré d'époxyde/polyoléfine (IPN). Dans une autre forme de réalisation, l'article revêtu comprend une couche de polyoléfine/époxyde qui est appliquée directement sur au moins une surface d'un substrat métallique, le revêtement de polyoléfine/époxyde étant recouvert d'une couche de finition thermoplastique, et l'article revêtu étant exempt d'adhésif ajouté. L'article métallique est de préférence un tuyau, une cuve, une conduite, une tige, un article profilé ou un tube.
