Abstract: The present invention relates to a interpolative encoder apparatus. The apparatus is comprised of an interpolative analog-to-digital converter for converting an output analog signal to a digital signal including a series of multi-bit binary words each consisting of all 0's or a series of 1 or more 0's and a series of one or more 1's. A logical unit is provided for converting each of the multi-bit binary words into a modified binary word having a new binary format consisting of either all 0's or a single 1 and a plurality of 0's such that the value of each of the modified words is equal to the value of the corresponding multi-bit word converted such that the least signficant bit thereof is doubled and made equal to the second bit in value. Finally, a digital filter is provided for filtering the series of modified words.
