An embodiment of a system in accordance with the present invention can include an implant having a spacer with a thickness and a wing, wherein a first configuration of the wing has a first height substantially similar to the thickness and wherein the wing is adapted to be selectably arranged in a second configuration such that the wing has a second height greater than the first height. A periphery of the implant has a shape generally conformal with a shape of an inner surface of a cannula and a cross-sectional diameter smaller than an inner diameter of the cannula. The cannula is inserted such that a proximal end of the cannula is arranged between the adjacent spinous processes. The implant is then urged into position between the adjacent spinous processes by way of the cannula, and subsequently arranged in a second configuration to fix the implant in position.
Un mode de réalisation de l'invention concerne un système pouvant comprendre un implant présentant un espaceur d'une épaisseur donnée et comprenant une aile, une première conception de l'aile présentant une première hauteur sensiblement similaire à l'épaisseur et l'aile étant conçue pour être disposée de manière sélective dans une seconde conception afin de présenter une seconde hauteur supérieure à la première. La périphérie de l'implant présente une forme sensiblement conforme à la forme de la surface interne d'une canule et un diamètre transversal inférieur au diamètre interne de la canule. Celle-ci est introduite de manière qu'une extrémité proximale de la canule soit disposée entre des apophyses épineuses adjacentes. L'implant est ensuite contraint dans une position située entre les apophyses épineuses, au moyen de la canule, puis disposé dans une seconde conception, aux fins de fixation de l'implant en position.
