The invention relates to an intervertebral implant (1) characterised by the following: both parts (10; 20) can be displaced in relation to one another by means of two joints (38;39) that are located between the two parts (10; 20); each of the joints (38; 39) has a rotational axis (3; 4) and the two rotational axes (3; 4) run transversally to one another; the two joints (38; 39) are configured by an upper joint section (31) that is connected to the upper part (10), a central joint section (32) and a lower joint section (33) that is connected to the lower part (20); one of the outer joint sections (31; 33) comprises at least one concave sliding surface (58) that is rotationally symmetrical in relation to the rotational axis (3; 4); and the central joint part (32) comprises a convex sliding surface (57) that complements said concave sliding surface (58). The remaining outer joint part (31;33) comprises at least one convex sliding surface (55) that is rotationally symmetrical in relation to the other rotational axis (3; 4) and the central joint part (32) comprises at least one concave sliding surface (56) that complements said convex sliding surface (55).
