ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An intra-uterine contraceptive device for human use includes a generally Y-shaped, synthetic plastic body formed of spheres interconnected by cylindrical rods, the body incorporating one or more pharmacologically active substances, e.g., metals, metal alloys, hormones, local anaesthetics and weakly basic buffer substances. The plastic may be, e.g., polyethylene or an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, and the hormone may be, for example, progesterone, d-norgestrel, cyproterone, or mestranol.
