This invention relates generally to expandable intraluminal medical devices for use within a body passageway or duct, and more particularly to an optimized stent having asymmetrical strut and loop members and the method for designing and optimizing said strut and loop members in a continuously variable fashion. In one embodiment of the invention the resulting stent includes one or more members each having at least one component. The component has non-uniform cross-sections to achieve near-uniform stress distribution along the component when the component undergoes deformation.
L'invention concerne de manière générale des dispositifs médicaux intraluminaux expansibles destinés à être utilisés dans un passage ou un conduit corporel, et plus particulièrement un stent optimisé comprenant des éléments asymétriques sous forme d'entretoises et de boucles, ainsi que le procédé de conception et d'optimisation desdits éléments de façon variable en continu. Dans un mode de réalisation de l'invention, le stent obtenu comprend un ou plusieurs éléments comportant chacun au moins un composant. Ledit composant possède des sections transversales non uniformes pour permettre l'obtention d'une distribution de contraintes quasi uniforme le long dudit composant lorsque ce dernier subit une déformation.
