The invention relates to an intraocular lens, of a hard or soft material, intended for implantation in the eye of a subject, and notably for substitution during a surgical operation of a defective crystalline lens. The lens comprises a polymer with a specified hydrophilic rate, containing a medicated product spread throughout its mass, the effects of which are suited to the circumstances of the operation, and in particular the at least partial inhibition of the post-operative reactions of the eye. The combination of the polymer and the medicated product results in the gradual release of the product into the aqueous humor. The figure herewith demonstrates the evolution of the indomethacin content in the aqueous humor and plasma of a rabbit implanted with a hydroxyethyl methacrylate lens containing in its mass this anti-inflammatory. Clinically, the inflammatory response had disappeared prior to the second day.
