An improved intraocular lens (28) is provided which more closely mimics the accommodation and focusing of the eye's natural lens. The lens (28) includes a central optic (30) together with a resilient positioning element (38) including a plurality of spaced-apart positioning legs (44) with openings (46) therebetween. The element (38) is configured so that the equatorial segment (48) thereof is maintained in substantial contact with a least a part of the corresponding equatorial portion (27) of the capsule (20), during essentially all orientations of the lens (28) within the capsule (20). A thin membrane (56) may be used to cover the openings (46) to thereby impede the passage of cells into the lens (28).
L'invention porte sur une lentille intraoculaire implantable (28) imitant de plus près les capacités d'accommodation et de focalisation des lentilles naturelles. Ladite lentille (28) comporte une optique centrale (30) associée à un élément élastique (38) de positionnement comprenant une série de segments de positionnement (44) séparés par des ouvertures (46). L'élément (38) est configuré pour que son segment équatorial (48) soit principalement en contact substantiel avec au moins la partie équatoriale correspondante de la capsule pour quasiment la totalité des orientations de la lentille à l'intérieur de la capsule (20). Une membrane mince (56) peut recouvrir les ouvertures (46) pour empêcher le passage de cellules dans la lentille (28).
