Abstract Intravenously administrable, aqueous solution of a water-soluble, physiologically tolerable salt of sulfametrole and of trimothoprim, in which malic acid, L-serine and/or L-threonine ar2 present as solubilizers and which has a pH of 6.4-7.2, preferably of 6.5-7Ø The counter-electrolyte used is a strong, physiologically tolerable base which forms water-soluble salts with the sulfonamide and any malic acid which is possibly present and is present in an amount equimolar to the amount of the sulfonamide and, if malic acid is used as a solubi- lizer, additionally in an amount of 2 mol 1 per mole of malic acid. For its preparation, an aqueous solution of neutral-reacting salts of sulfamotrole and of the acids having a solubilizing action is first prepared, into which the trimothoprim is introduced and dissolved and thereafter the pH is adjusted.
