An intrinsically safe portable programmer for communicating with the electronic process control equipment over a wireless communication link. The portable programmer comprises a microprocessor controlled electronic circuit housed in an enclosure formed from a polymers polystyrene having a low surface resistivity. The electronic circuit is mounted inside the enclosure with a low voltage battery supply and encased in epoxy to prevent sparking. The electronic circuit includes an infrared transmitter and a keypad. In response to keypad inputs, the electronic circuit generates control signals which are transmitted to the electronic process control equipment via the infrared transmitter.
L'invention concerne un programmateur portable intrinsèquement sûr permettant de communiquer avec un équipement électronique de commande de processus sur une liaison de communications sans fil. Ledit programmateur portable comprend un circuit électronique commandé par un microprocesseur logé dans une enveloppe formée de polystyrène polymère à faible résistance de surface. Le circuit électronique est monté à l'intérieur de cette enveloppe avec une batterie d'alimentation basse tension et est encastré dans une résine époxy afin d'empêcher la formation d'étincelles. Le circuit électronique comprend un émetteur infrarouge et un clavier. En réponse aux entrées clavier, le circuit électronique génère des signaux de commande transmis à l'équipement électronique de commande de processus via l'émetteur infrarouge.
