A liquid intumescent coating composition comprising a resin system. The resin system comprises at least one polymeric component, one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomeric components and at least one intumescent ingredient. The coating composition is curable to a solid state in a free-radical polymerisation reaction.

L'invention a trait à une composition de revêtement intumescente liquide, qui contient un système de résine. Ledit système de résine renferme au moins un composant polymère, un ou plusieurs composants monomères éthyléniquement insaturés, et au moins un ingrédient intumescent. La composition de revêtement selon l'invention peut être durcie jusqu'à un état solide, au cours d'une réaction de polymérisation à radicaux libres.
