A magnetic induction device (5) mounted at the wellhead that (6) is capable of measuring changes in magnetic flux can recognize when a tubing joint (4) or casing collar passes in or out of the well. The number of changes in magnetic flux directly correlates to the number of joints and collars that have passed, and therefore an accurate inventory of the number of lengths of casing or tubing that are run into the well can be automatically maintained.

L'invention a trait à un dispositif d'induction magnétique (5) monté au niveau d'une tête de puits, qui (6) peut mesurer les variations dans le flux magnétique. Ledit dispositif peut repérer lorsqu'un manchon ou un joint de tubage (4) est passé à l'intérieur ou à l'extérieur du puits. Le nombre de variations du flux magnétique est directement corrélé avec le nombre de manchons et de joints qui ont été posés, ce qui permet de tenir automatiquement un inventaire précis du nombre de longueurs de tubage qui sont posées dans le puits.
